Does anyone have a link to some specs for mahogany? The chart at woodbin doesn't have it listed. Anything on their list that would be close enough to be comfortable using?
http://www.woodbin.com/ref/wood/strength_table.htm
edit: honduran mahogany is what I need the specs on

From "The Encyclopedia of Wood" - Adlard Coles, 1980, from data prepared by the Forest Products Laboratory, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture
Mahogany (Swietenia Macrophyllia) at moisture content of 12%:
Specific Gravity : 0.45
Modulus of Rupture : 9,300 - 11,600 psi
Modulus of Elasticity : 1.28 - 1.51 million psi
Work to Maximum Load : 9.6 - 7.9 in-lb per cu. in.
Compression parallel to grain (maximum crushing strength) : 4,510 - 6,630 psi
Shear parallel to grain (maximum shear strength) : 1,310 - 1,290 psi
Side hardness (load perpendicular to grain) : 700-810 lb
Hope this is what you are looking for.

Just be advised that unless the piece of wood you're working on is EXACTLY the same as the ones that were used to arrive at those numbers, your actual characteristics will differ.
Those numbers are an average.

(I was biting my tongue) but since Ken has brought it up ...
The Forest Products Lab's Wood Handbook (on line somewhere) lists the expected variation of properties mmd listed.
(More tongue biting.)
