(until the wind died down) ha ha...Well, URSA MINOR made it's maiden voyage today on Lake Champlain in NY. Here are some photos of My lovely wife Teresa, and my sons Sean and Mark christening the boat. I apologize for the grainy photos. They were taken with a small digital, in the late afternoon on a very very hazy day from far off shore. This is actually the second launch attempt. The first attempt took on more water than I was comfortable with. I will post better pictures in the future.
Thanks in advance,
Bob

Thanks everyone. It feels great to finally get her in the water. It was 412 late night hours spread over 20 months, a few more dollars than I wanted to, and a lot of understanding from the family, but well worth it. Rick, yes something bigger in the future, Noah, I will look you up. As a matter of fact the kids are going to summer camp in Mallots bay this summer, and we planned on sailing over one day to visit. I will let you know. As far as what type of boat, I have no idea. Made in the '20's (so I was told), 12'long, solid brass centerboard, made in the Long Island area (so I was told), and the sail is made by Ratsy and Lapthorn dated 4/11/33. Ged, I got a high five from my son when the sail first filled with air, so I guess the family enjoys it.
Thanks again,
Bob K.
Fantastic! What's next???
A high five? That's great. I know they're proud. My dad built a houseboat for us when I was a kid. I think it was one of the things that made me think he could do anything. It took him and a friend about a year, and it wasn't as complicated to build as it might sound. Will your boys be in on building the next one? A family project like that can be some of the best time to spend together.

There's something special about that first puff of wind, when she comes alive again and slides quietly through the water. I reckon just the right weather for a first sail, kind of quiet and introspective, private almost.

Isn't this satifying especially when you can celebrate with your children, and your lovely wife of course, right there. The photos are fine, we got the picture. Congratulations!!
