Has anyone ever built or tried to build the Elco 26 from plans available through Wes Farmer or the following sources?

Tom, I love that style and design. I only wish it were about a thirty-footer and I may bight. Problem is it took me 7 years to finish a 23 footer (almost done). Something that big would take me a loong time. If you hear of anyone that has built it, email me direct please?
Thanks and regards, Mithell

Tom,
I fell in love with launches because of an Elco 26' that lived at our boat yard for a few years.
I looked into Weston Farmer' design available from Hankinson's but ultimately purchased a a set of plans modified by Selway Fisher at:
http://www.selway-fisher.com/
The design is a snow bunting 24', but they have a variety of fantails from 18 to 40+ feet.
Their plans are excellent and the designer (Paul Fisher) is one of the most helpful fellows around.
A month ago or so I posted some progress photos of "Sea Cell" if you want to see how she looks.

Mitchell,
Greetings! Thought you were now a Hebron resident.

Tom- I haven't built from those plans, but I owned a 29' "Dream Boat" built in 1931, here in Seattle. It was a production boat, built by Blanchard, identical in look and shape to the Weston Farmer design.
I still miss it- a bit of a "roller", but it would probably settle down with some ballast and bigger tanks. It drew a lot of attention, cruised very happily at 7-10 knots (above expected hull speed, sort of semi-displacement) and with the flush forward deck had much more room than you'd expect inside. Getting forward to mess with the anchor, etc. was a bit tricky though. Lots of handholds would be a good idea!
When you start, post lots of pics!

Tom, I see at the Old Marine website it says the plans were redrawn by you. Can you say a bit about what was involved?

I bought the plans when Hankinson was selling them and while I love wood boats I cheated and made a set of fg molds. The first two went to the gulf and the third one is still in the mold. If anyone is interested in the molds I will help load them when we are finished.

How do you post pictures?
How do you post pictures?
They have to be on another website first. Then copy/paste them to here. Someone else may come along and tell you how to do it the hard way. Looking forward to seeing some pics.

Use the icon that looks like this. http://www.woodenboat.com/forum/images/editor/insertimage.gif A menu will open up, paste your image location link into it, and the photo will show up. Use the preview post function if you are in doubt, it is WYSIWYG.

Thanks for your help. This is the second one we built. The Cabin is wood, every thing else is FG.
