I am in the process of building the Glen-l Little Hunk.I will attempt to add a photo.I have been reading all of the old postings for a few months.I am not sure how to cut the transon for a 20 inch shaft outboard, can I take a straight edge and hold it to the keel and then measure up 19 inches and cut out the rest of the pocket for the engine? I am sure I will have many questions for everyone Thanks for all the knowledge from everyone. P.S. I live in middle tennessee. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid112/p4483222162a7500f52745d12a301e84f/f8ff7de2.jpg

Welcome! I don't have any answers for you, but you've certainly come to the right place. Keep taking those pics. She's gonna be a beaut.

Depending on the angle of your transom, a 20 inche shaft engine will require a RUNNING LENGTH of 21 to 21 1/2 inche. This is from the top to the bottom, keel or centerline. Keep in mind you will need some adjustment as the cavitation plate will need to be enlign with the keel of the hull. If your engine is too low, it will throw water up the transom while running on cruise speed.

So...maybe before cutting the transom, you can wait until the boat is planked and upright and you have the motor you'll use on hand?

Also wait until you choose an engine. I made the mistake of cutting a transom to the standard BIA height and then bought a Honda OB. The Honda recommends a higher height than the BIA recommendations. I had to raise the trtansom an inch.

I will most likely put a YAMAHA engine on the boat. Thanks..
