I've noticed that this present wet cool weather dominating the NE US has been around since last Oct. :( What causes it and when will the present system leave ? Any predictions from our WBF amateur forecasters ?

It will end when my boat is ready for launching.... If you want better weather, spend more time pounding rivets! :D

Is this boat a candidate ?
Any other S. New Englanders want to break the current spell of wet weather ?
Line up and help Doug ( MrLeft8) peen rivets,
Maybe we'll get some sunshine. ;)

Not just southern New England, Jack. Been wet as a Manila good-time girl here in Bangor.
We've needed the water. It breaks a drought.
I think our weather starts in the central Pacific. El Nino, an upwelling of warm water from no one knows quite where (could be subsurface volcanic activity), moving the lower then the upper atmosphere, changing the way systems move across the NA contintent. Like I said, my understanding of meteorology is spotty at best. I doubt I'm alone. Fascinating though.
Our western states are dying for water just now. From the same movements of that upper atmosphere, near as I can figure.

all weather on earth is caused by the sun. where i live, the weather changes when i look out the back door instead of the front door.
