How is it that I live in the same state as WB and I get mine late?

Cheers,
Clint

Why the extra details about colon exams???

....ewwww

Yah I know it is something you have to do, but it takes and exta special someone to share that fact.

Got mine today, as well (188, that is). Great article by Dan Nielsen on building his Haven.

John, I used to get mine through the Aussie supplier (Boat Books) and they always came after they were in the newsagents. I resubscribed in the US and I now receive it soon after the front page posts here. About the same price too.

Sorry about "blowing my own conch trumpet". My original proposal was for a full article, they suggested the smaller version. I had not thought of doing mor, but now you bring it up.

Actually, you should write about the March show, you're bascally the WBF organiser.

I also think the Chad MMD design thread ought to be made into an article (probably by Michael).

Finally got WB188 yesterday. I've been a little impatient since that comment about the Haven was posted. That was the first article I read; haven't gone through the entire mag yet.
Impressive! A Haven was Dan Nielson's first build!?! That's not a simple boat to build. And it only took him 28 months! My first "serious" boat was a Penobscot 14, much simpler to build than the Haven, and it took me 20 months. Well done!

Woodenboat needs more articles like Mr. Nelson's. Are you listening WB Staff?

Nr 188 in my mailbox this afternoon in Auckland NZ!!!!. Normally about 4 to 6 weeks behind US. It had come from Boatbooks OZ, they have obviously improved their system somewhat. Will see what happens with the next issue.

For those of you commenting on the Building NIMBUS article, I apperciate your kind comments. It was actually a fairly easy write because it came from the heart. One afternoon I managed to put aside lifes troubles and that story I had rattling around in my head poured from my finger tips through the keyboard and onto the screen.

It is blatantly immodest to say, but it is pretty darn neat to see your name on the 'By' line.

Interestingly, a college roomate from 20 years past read the article and contacted me. He is building a Kingfisher rowing shell and subscribes to the magazine. He read the article and remember my name. Neither one of us was aware of the others interest in boats back then. I've also been contacted by builders asking about paint schemes, telling their stories about building their wood boats and sharing their personal reflections on the experience. All good stuff, I say.

Anyway, thanks again for the encouragement.

Dan

I hope it doesn't upset uncas too much to know that WB188 arrived here yesterday and this is a foreign country to Woodenboat.

I'm still waiting for 188, too. Thursday I got an invitation to "enjoy a FREE PREVIEW of the next issue of WoodenBoat without risk."

Maybe I should return the reservation card and see if they send me #188.

I thought mine was missing, until I just found it in my "to read" pile next to my comfy chair. I can't imagine why I didn't have it on top of the pile, but there must have been some last minute cleaning going on such that it got demoted. I think it came earlier than usual, so I lost track of it. I probably hadn't finished the previous issue yet, and I'm way behind on Fine Woodworking. But now that I have it, I'll dive right in!
