I was wondering if any of you out there had any favorite boat related software programs. Is there a boat design program smilar to 3D home-architect? (just for fun of course)
How about sailing simulators or historical naval games?

Don't know about the 3D design software, but there was a previous thread a couple of months ago about simulators and naval battle games. My personal favorite simulator so far is "Virtual Sailor." Great graphics, great scenery, numerous boats, you can play online with others, and it can be downloaded over the web for about $25. But there were several others that were listed. Here's the link to the thread:

My favorite Sim is Sail 2000 from Vivid Simulations. Real racing and sail control with relaistic graphics that beat them all.

Although the capability to store the work that you produce is disabled in the free version, you could try one of the hull design programs that can be downloaded for the purpose of experiment from http://www.newavesys.com/

Fred Carlson's free Hull Designer is a dandy.
Strongly recommended.

Here's a couple Freebies :D that I know of:
- WXTide32 predicts tides and currents for about 9,700 locations around the world through the year 2038. Tides are depicted in various graphical forms with daily and monthly textual charts selectable by menu. Sun and moon rise and set times and lunar phases are also computed. While all functions are interactively controlled, unattended processing is also supported for automated output. Free download here:

- SeaClear is a PC based chart plotter for Windows 2000/XP/NT/95/98/ME. With a GPS connected it displays the current position, speed, heading and other data on the screen. The chart is repositioned and new charts are loaded automatically as needed. Tracks may be saved to file for later reviewing and log book entries can be manually and automatically entered. Unlimited number of routes and waypoints can be created and used to assist the navigation. The screen area for charts is maximized with most functions accessed with the right mouse button. Zooming is provided with support for IntelliMouse wheel. SeaClear is created for marine navigation but can probably be used for other navigation needs. Free Download here:
