While attending a meeting of the USS Constitution Ship Model Guild last night, we enjoyed the firing of the cannon and lowering of the ensign on OLD IRONSIDES at sunset. This is something I never get tired of experiencing. One day last year I visited the ship in the morning for the raising of the ensign. These traditions are an emotional experience on such a historic ship.

I lived in the North End of Boston, across from the Navy Yard, for several years. The daily guns were a regular part of life there.
