I see your ( Mirelle)photo and mention in Classic boat August. More to come in sept is there?

It's very odd, John. I have no idea why we were pictured in the magazine, or indeed why they took a picture of two boats motoring towards the start with headsails and topsails down when a few minutes later they could have photographed a fleet running across the line (it was a leeward start against the flood tide in a light air) with everything set.

We did nothing in the race (35th! Well, we got the prize for first on corrected time with a helmsman under 21 - it was such a quiet day that we gave Alex, age 8, the helm!) and a great many people must be wondering what "pull" I've got with the Editor - there were some far more noteworthy boats present.

Pretty inconvenient that other boat getting in the way I think.

The implication was that there would be an in depth article about the event in sept. More Mirelle and some Patience as well perhaps? September CB would be out over thar wouldn't it?

. More Mirelle and some Patience as well perhaps? Not sure about Mirelle but Patience is on the list of boats that do NOT get space in Classic Boat. Can't imagine why,,,,,,,(?)

Ah, would that be negative pull with the editor maybe, Ian?

What did you do to him?

Ring him up and find out Ian. I met the last editor ( Nic Compton)when he came out here in 2000 and he was a good sort. There's no reason why this one shouldn't be. Tell him there are people all over the world who want to see information about people USING their classic boats. They have a new category now... 'my boat' or some such thing. perfec place for Mirelle and Patience ( if they didn't want to do an in depth article.

BTW,Peter Brookes has a pilot cutter to build from scratch .

Say hallo to Peter for me, tell him that Tim and Anne are back in the Basin for the winter.

...by the way, did anybody here read the article by Peter Butler posted in the OGA newsletter about the Flensburg RumRegatta?

...and how many of you will join Peter next year to sail over here to participate in the 25th RumRegatta? smile.gif

...just asking. ;)

Martin, a letter or email to Jon Wainwright:

http://www.eastcoastclassics.co.uk/

will probably do the trick, note his close connections with the VKSJ and his suggestion for something in the way of a passage race....
