all over again!

Sorry, but I feel that this person is a menace. Both of my parents suffer from advanced stages of Alzheimer's Disease. We got my parents out of harm's way before they hurt themselves or others. This gentleman exhibits most of the same signs.

Or, he's a shifty rascal trying to evade the cost of his "rescues".

If he leaves port again, it should be on a DNR (Do Not Rescue) sail plan.

Resuced again & again (http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/West/01/31/offbeat.wayward.sailor.ap/index.html)

End of rant.

So this dopey buggar seems to have sold off all the nav and radio distress stuff and said "tally ho" and just sallied forth knowing that someone would come to his rescue?... dipweed!

The fella gets GIVEN a boat in good order with all ..."radio, flares, compass and Global Positioning System." ...and stuffs up again because he didnt have it??? ...Flamin idiot!

In full agreeance Wayne! DNR... but sadly it wont happen... he gets in the shite again they will rescue him again and again and again... and I mean if he sold that equipment whats a $1500 fine? make the fine bigger or confiscate and sell his boat to someone who needs it and will make sure its going to be safe when taken offshore... bloody idiot!

How many good but neglected boats have we seen either in dry storage or marinas begging for a good home and owner? There ought to be a law: Neglect a good boat and FORFEIT it!

So much for self-reliance at sea backed up by a few modern gizmos if the SHITE really hits the fan.

Cheers!

This brings to mind what I was wondering the first time this guy was rescued. How do you get "lost" within a hundred miles of the Pacific coast? Seems as if you could head toward the sun in the morning, or away in the afternoon, and eventually you would come to North America.

No kidding! Aim for the lights of the cities at night. I remember seeing the glow of Lubbock, Texas 50-100 miles before I got there. L.A. & S.D. should be even brighter over the horizon.

The guy is bonkers!

We might be assuming too much-that this person knew morning from afternoon?

By all accounts, he didn't know which way was UP!

I will shut up now.

DNR Definitely. I honestly think the guy is trying to get lost he is a sealess person as opposed to a homeless person. I think he wants to get lost at sea. He obviously feels more comfortable that way. He survived way longer than I could have the first time. I say let him go like the old Eskimos on a floating iceberg that's what he he wants, he obviously doesn't want to be rescued.
