If one wanted to put in to sail in Boston Harbor, where might one find the best boat ramp, and place to park?

Actually harder than it sounds. If you're coming from the north, look in the East Boston and Winthrop area - a couple of ramps. Or you may want to put in down by Hingham or Hull.
Use the terraserver (I go by WB mags links - 'Eye in the Sky' under Misc) to find a topo map of the Boston area and zoom in likely places.
I don't know what parking permit or sticker problems all the different places pose.
How much you want to bet there's a book. Or, again using the links, find the open water rowing club up here and ask them. Also, there's a yacht club over in East Boston with the nicest people in the world. They camp once a month or so on the islands and can fill you in on permits and ramps and all. If you camp on the islands, mind the bunnies.

Here's a site that is some help http://www.bostonboating.com/publiclaunchramps.htm I know there are ramps not on this list (like the two here in Marblehead) so local knowledge would still help give other options. Here's another site http://www.orangekite.com/portfolio/sea_chicks/laun chsites.html (http://www.orangekite.com/portfolio/sea_chicks/launchsites.html)
And another interesting one http://seayaks.home.att.net/Directions.htm
These Kayak sites won't all work with trailered boats too heavy to lift.

Cool site list Thad.
How wide are these ramps?
I'm making the decision as to whether I should fold my trimaran or not.
If it's not folding it will be 20ft wide.
But, since it's a kayak, I can beach lauch/recover it.
