A few years ago in the English Lake District I came across a group of people retrieving sunken once hire dinghys and restoreing them. They had 3 in work and said there were a dozen more off-shore under water waiting attention. Some had been under 20 years or more but they said the water was so cold at depth the wood had lasted well.

Still happens,,,,,,,,

One of the big Fifes. It might have been Belle Aventure was sunk on purpse for the duration of World War 2. It must have taken great foresight and a long term view of things to do something like that.
