It looks like a sloop rig.

yep it is "A wooden boat with fiberglass skin, restored by current owner, is sloop rigged with a gaff mainsail. "

Thanks for the welcome.
Like many others I was bitten by the wood bug and started with a CLC 16 that I built from the book.
The other posts were related to Varnish issues I had that with help from the forum were sorted nicely.
of course now I have the itch to start something in the 14' range with room for two.
I'm in the Boston area so I'm thinking catboat.
