Ouch.
I once had a tree like that fall in my yard during a thunderstorm. I was never so relieved to see that it hit my car instead of my boat!
At least you now have an excuse to start the NEXT boat...
At least oak makes good fire wood. Do you get a new trailer too? That is just a heart breaker. At least you didn't do sumpin stupid to wreak it. :(

Yeah, we had a few limbs down due to ice as well.
I concur with those above, you have gold-engraved orders to build another boat. None of the usual life-getting-in-the-way excuses need apply! :D

Bad luck Stu.
That luck is cruel. Good luck with what needs to happen now Skipper and I hope your Chistmas continues to get a great deal better.

I actually surrounded my boat with my trucks during the hurricane threats this past year. Hope all works out for you.

That really smarts Stu. Is it too soon to ask what you will replace her with?

My stomach hurts from looking at those shots! having built a Beach Pea myself,600 hours, I am very sorry to hear of this news. These boats row so well and sail too! I can reach a sustained speed of 5 knts Rowing for almost a mile ,covering it in about 12 minutes! Top speed was 5.2!
BTW, it also catches Fish !
!Build another one! Stephen

Two alternatives, cut your wrists or start ordering the wood to repair it (the latter might be more fun) :( :(

It's beyond repair. I can salvage the hardware. Yes, it was a great boat. Rows very well. Not the greatest sailer.

I'm not sure what to build, but I will build again!

Stu, it's small consolation to be sure, but the boat may have been covered under your casualty insurance policy, particularly since it was being used as a seasonal decoration...

That's the sprit, Stu! Build something larger with lots of red oak trim, floorboards, etc -- call it "Beach Pea's Revenge"...

Oh Stu, two hits in a row.
At least with the boat you could saw out the broken part so bow and stern will stand up, add some shelves, and have a couple of finastkind cathedral bookcases that will bring a tear each time you pass them by . . .

That's right Ian. Two hits in a row. Got the axe on Friday the 2nd http://www.townonline.com/brewster/schoolSports/view.bg?articleid=386624
and the pod got the tree on Friday the 9th.
I feel quilty even mentioning loss to you, with Grana and Goblin. But as you know, life goes on and "if it doesn't kill us it only makes us stronger". I'm not finished coaching or boatbuilding yet.

It usually happens that the person who creates an institution in the community eventually gets axed by the same institution. Based on that article Stu, you can walk away with your head held high.... and you can find new challenges too. ;)
Bummer!!! Stu. :(
I like the suggestion for the book case.
Or! how about gunwales flush to the wall hinged to open, stem up and opening along the keel for a custom libation cabinet with mirror back, recycled thwart shelves and a mini fridge. Call it a tool crib if you do not drink. ;)

She's beyond the bookshelf/bar stage. Saturday I loaded her onto the trailer, and off to the Brewster dump. Drove onto the scale, got weighed. Lifted her into a trailer bed and said goodbye. She cost $2,000.00 to build and $8.00 to bury. Now, what do I replace her with?

Sorry to hear about this. I had the same thing happen two years ago. Had the boat in the yard geeting ready to launch. Went out of town for a few days for work. Came back to find a tree limb draped over the deck. Luckily it glanced off the bow light - smashing it and did NO damage to the boat itself!
