Nice photos. smile.gif I guess there won't be much ice boating around here for a while, a major snow storm heading our way.

I expect the lakes are close to freezing but I'd guess that a lot of them have yet to do so. There's nothing posted yet on the New England Ice Yacht Association's ice reports board (http://www.concentric.net/%7Edn4762/Forms/reportlist.shtml). HOWEVER, I have not yet had a chance to visit any of my local ponds to see how they are doing. How are they doing up in your area? If the current relatively high levels of precepitation keep up its not going to be a great year for ice boating or ice skating.

That's a great pic. That photo really conveys, among other things, how cold it must have been that particular day. Great day for sailing huh? ;)

the page also shows a neat iceboat, that can also sail on open waters, it was used by rescue teams.

Bruce, all the smaller ponds are frozen, not sure about the bigger lakes, I quess the shallow ones like Massabesic are frozen but not safe yet, the deeper ones like Winnipesaukee only frozen in the coves definitely not in the broads. I will check Massabesic after this storm passes.
