SWMBO was watching and guess what came up ?
They showed a 12 1/2 being restored and a sail on a Rosinante. I saw just a part of it.

Did any body else catch it ?

That's down at our Center for Wooden Boats http://www.cwb.org/ -- the 12-1/2 is SARA and she's currently in hospital -- and will be for a while -- she needs to be completely reframed and replanked. She was freframed a while ago, but instead of removing each frame, replacing it and reusing the screw holes...they put in full length sisters, fastened them in, then cut out the old frames -- there are at least two coursed of screw holes near each frame (das SwissCheeseEffect).

Me....I'd have pulled every third frame or so, replaced them and installed them (using the same screw holes) with copper rivets.

Yeah, my Dad called from Florida to give us a "heads up". We had taken him and my Mom to the center on their first trip out here to visit us and he recognised it. Luckily, it comes on later out here... We actually rented SARA for the afternoon one day, just before they first started the current big rebuild. Be nice to see her back in the water and sailing again...

I saw it. Was hoping to hear some names that I recognize.

Thanks for the heads up! Really enjoyed the segments on The Center for Wood Boats. A nice homage to the unique qualities of wood boats. First time the show has featured wood boats in their special segments - long overdue. Also the first time all the special segments focussed on one subject.

Does anyone know if they did any sort of segment on the large wooden boat model in the greenish box that was sitting next to the host prior to one of the Center segments? I was hoping to hear more about what that model and box were all about.

J Dillon, Yes I saw it by chance. Did you notice that the Rosinante had a "1" on her sail. Was that RFH's personal boat?

Anita, The boat in a box was an old toy (a Sundays only toy  )- very detailed and seems to be very well cared for. There were a couple of previous shows from Seattle & one of them featured it.
Nice segment at CWB smile.gif
Made me wish I was back out there. From the looks of the docks' setup and the big schooner by the office, the filming must have been done not long after the annual WB Festival.

Hey Nic,
What was the name of that schooner. I know she is back (shipped back) in Germany and has assumed her original name. There was a small article in Classic Boat this month. The Rosinante looked like DULCINEIA?
