39' Lyle Hess on ebay

There is a 39' Lyle Hess on ebay. This vessel was built by Mr. Hess himself in 1948. Item # 2481617678. The Lady Elizabeth. Does anyone know anything of the history of this vessel? I am told she was a flagship for a southern California Yacht club, but do not know which one. Any passings...info...history would be much appreciated.

You might try giving his daughter, Linda Leclew a call for information about Lady Elisabeth's early years. I'm not certain whether Linda has tracked the vessel through the years, though. I believe that the boat was briefly described in the article about Lyle which was published some years back in WoodenBoat.

As I recall from our conversations, Lyle and his partner, Roy Barteau built her as their final project before shutting down their yard. He was quite proud of the workmanship they built into her and used to have quite a few photos of her from her time in construction. I did not ever see her, however.
