Snug in her berth.
I went to bend the mainsail on yesterday and discovered the head of the sail was about 200 mm too long. After the swearing ceased it was off to the sailmaker with the sail and a copy of the sailplan drawing, When spread out on the floor sure enough the head and leech were just under 200mm longer than specified.Collected the altered sail this afternoon, now going sailing on Sunday.

What a shape.... absolutely beautiful...

I look at your boat, and compare it to the similiarly sized fibreglass boats in our marina, and I just don't get it. Your boat has such style superiority to me, it's not even close!!!!

Anyway, a beautiful boat, a lovely job, nice to have your mom doing the honours... I hope you have many many enjoyable hours aboard. smile.gif smile.gif

John,
Pine Harbour berth A14
Dingo,
The Golant Gaffer is definitly trailable although I would not call it a trailersailor. It weighs 1500kilos and has a fixed draft of 800mm. I intended to keep the boat in a marina berth, and I do not have anywere to store a large trailer.I needed a crane of some sort to lift the boat from its building cradle to whatever form of transport I was going to use,and hireing a suitable trailer and something to pull it with (I think my Holden Astra would struggle somewhat), would have cost about the same as hireing a company that specialises in boat transporting and has all the gear and knowhow on tap to do the job without hassles. Admittedly the size of the truck that turned up was a suprise, but as you can see the Oughtred "Feather" pram tender fitted nicely across the back. Two of the boats I saw in the UK in 2001 were frequently trailered one towed by a Landrover Discovery and the other by an Isuzu Trooper, both advised no problems power wise.

Don,
The "shop" is now very empty, it was my brother in law's farm impliment shed but a couple of years ago he sold all his cows, leased the farm to a neighbour who raises calves, bought a bus and converted it to a motor home, you can see the front of it in the first photo. Two days after my boat left they departed for a trip around the South Island of NZ, will be away for 2 months.

The recut mainsail now fits and going sailing tomorrow smile.gif smile.gif

She has grace -- may she know good luck, as well.

Graeme,

Anahere looks phantastic! Thanks for the hint in design/plans.

Interesting shape of the keel at the point the prop shaft comes out!

Hope to put my GG in water in april. I keep you posted.

Immer eine Handbreit Wasser unter dem Kiel!

(literaly translated: 'always one hand of water under the keel', in english perhaps better something like 'should you never run aground' or just 'smooth sailing').

All the best
Helmuth

First sail today. As John says in his classic yacht thread a couple further down virtually no wind, but at least got most of the strings sorted ast to lenghts etc. Very light breeze for a couple of hours after lunch and we seemed to move along quite well given what wind there was, the motor works well though(Yanmar 1GM).

Got pics of a GG being towed by a Land Rover. Those have more/less power than an F100? ;)

Lovely, lovely boat, Graeme! Should have John Welsford around for a look. ;)

I did notice the boat got smaller the closer it got to the water... ;)
