View Full Version : WB Mag #173
Haven't had time to scan most of the issue yet, but the first place I look is "Launchings" and am pleased to see Gert's CARINA featured(page 97) and mention of the Forum.
Now looking over the classifieds, and am wondering why I would bother to build a new boat when so much is available at what appears to be more reasonable prices of late???
22' swedish daysailer, 16' Ness, 16' Perfect WB skiff, etc.

Some build because what they want isn't available. Some may like the pride in saying "I built it." Most build, I think, because they love the building process.

Yup, building is fun, but when something like this comes up, a basically sound 39' Swede sloop for only $9500, I start thinking about storage space! :D
My lovely wife is looking for an appropriate 12 step program for boat salvors though......

I totally agree, all you have to do is walk through a few boat yards just about anywhere. But particularly in New England.
I too have not perused the latest issue. I'm still in shock, it was the first of a new subscription. Haven't had a subscription since the very first issue came out. Now I can be smuf like the rest of you guys.

step one, buy boat
2 bring it home
3 use it
not a 12 step program but just a three step, repete as desired with a few: 1 build it ... steps thrown in for variations sake.

Eric- it's a soft chine, some kind of a metre boat or such, traditional long, skinny, deep, built in the 1930's?
lagspiller might be one of the guys on the board that could shed more light on this type of boat.
