Are you scratch building or from a kit?

I just had did a class on the Midwest kit of the Muscongus Bay Lobster Smack. There were 3 of us, and none of them are done yet, but we've got some nice construction pictures.

Chapelle has some info in American Small Sailing Craft. I believe the Maine Maritime Museum has plans. A few months ago there was a thread here on the forum, I believe under Design and Construction, where a gentleman was seriously considering building a MBLS. There may be some sources in that thread.

Hope that helps.

Bob,

As Harvey says, I believe the Maine Maritime Museum has plans. Their Apprenticeshop built a few of these back in the late seventies, and I'm pretty sure Dave Dillion drew up a set of plan for it.

I was one of the builders on the Chappelle Muscongus bay Sloops at the Apprenticeshop in the late 70's. What questions do you have? My wife took some pictures and we may be able to send you some if you're more specific. You might also try contacting the successor organization to the Bath Apprenticeshop, the Rockland Apprenticeshop http://www.atlanticchallenge.org who may also have photos in their files.

I have the kit, but haven't started yet. I'd hoped to do it this winter, but there's just too much laundry... tongue.gif

The Maine Maritime Museum in Bath have the plans for the Muscongus Bay sloop. I almost bought them but opted for the friendship instead. If I'm not mistaken they can be had for about $50. If you need a contact number let me know and I will get it to you.
