I was just thinking... I got lucky. By which I mean, I married a woman who's not afraid to get dirty and who knows how to wield a belt sander ;)
she just got back from the first of two classes at IYRS in Newport with a big smile 'cross her face... I think she liked her latest anniversary present. best of all I get the benefits: the better she gets at this, the easier it'll be to convince her to own a nice wooden boat, hee hee...
Who else here gets their wife tools, boat stuff, and classes?

Requesting: One pint of blood for transfusion purposes ;)
Cathy says I can build any boat I want. Good Lord, what if I did?

Well Eric, there was the time I bought her the valentines day crescent. Very useful I thought.
and the sabre saw.On request that time ,I might add. Good pruning tool but she doesn't know I used her #1 blade cutting lead the other day......
She'll probably never know come to think of it.So don't tell anyone.

My wife has enrolled in Jewelery School, the real heavy duty, diamonds and platinum variety. And she LOVES it. Good for me, as she noted:
"You know, this is doubly great, because we could build or buy a bigger boat and fit it out with a bench for me to work, when we eventually go on our circumnavigation with our yet to be born bratling.."
Can I pick em?

My wife has no problem sanding and varnishing. She will help me with whatever on the boats we build. She even got on the shed roof to shingle it with me. I AM BLESSED!!

Mine has a very good features.
She supports boats and building all the way - She encouraged me to buy the 4th boat (Herreshoff 12 1/2 restoration project boat 1928) Which is on deck for a year or two until after I complete the current project)
She supports all tool purchased - and accepts a list for Christmas presents.
Now and then she will help a bit on a boat - but rather leave them to me.

Phyllis has been supportive my boat building obsession. However, as we were talking to someone admiring Prairie Islander at the launch ramp yesterday she told them that this would be my last boat building project.... Unless, she added, he wants to build a Haven 12-1/2. CA-CHING!

My dear wife Helen, said to me yesterday, "During the summer holidays I'm going to sand back the dining room table, I can't stand looking at it." The table has bloomed into a craft table.
To which I replied, "it's a big job, you will need a high precision tool."
"Just get me what I need," she said. Well, I need a new high precision tool too ... and I'll take the table to Monaro Timbers who have a table sander.

SWMBO isn't interested in boats or water herself, she doesn't swim and a Cambrige punt is the only craft I've gotten her out on. But she insisted that when we recently changed houses it had room for a shop, and it does! Supports my tool habit, even buys me clamps (Thought you might need some of these) I reckon I'm pretty lucky too.
