Since this is a forum mainly for wooden boat enthusists I will begin by saying that I'm keeping my replica 18th century "Jolly Boat". But I went to the "Strictly Sail Show" at Navy Pier in Chicago and fell in love with a Compac Yacht Sun Cat and bought one. I'll take possession of her in late April or early March. :D :D :D Now unfortunatly I have an over eager desire for spring to come. :D
She has, to me, real classic lines and a neat "Mast Tending system" that looks like it will get me on the water faster. This is important to me. Plus I will be able to singlehand her. :D
Seaweed :D :D :D

Tom!
Trying to envision her....Gotta picture? If you don't I will look it up on the internet.
No, I am not in the market...like my Hinckley SW 34 and she is great to sail singlehanded.

Builder's Remarks
Clark Mills wanted to design a shoal daysailer that would rig and sail easily, quickly, and comfortably - as well as accommodate his family and friends. The Sun Cat was designed as an easily driven, roomy day boat and overnighter with a shoal draft to gunk hole along coasts and in harbors not accessible to more burdensome yachts. Outfitted with the MASTENDR quick rig sailing system and stainless steel centerboard / trunk (as installed on her little sister the Picnic Cat), the Sun Cat will provide convenient trailering and maintenance-free enjoyment. Individuals who appreciate timeless design and quality fabrication, who wish to explore coastal waters and quiet creeks, and who demand value from a yacht, will warmly relate to the "new tradition" that the Sun Cat brings.

She looks great and I bet a lot of fun when there isn't much water...i.e., creeks and such.
Have fun...approx. 40 days until spring! :D

Catboats are great. If I could just find time to finish fixing my Beetlecat up I could go sailing.
Got any pictures of the jolly boat. I think those are very cool.

Tom:
Have you read " All Brave Sailors " by Revell Carr about the Jolly Boat episode (survival) in WW2?

I don't have any pictures of the catboat so you will have to do with the one posted above. Mine has a white hull, and should come with a Bimini and other goodies.
Here is a photo of the Jolly Boat 3 Sisters GRS. Ain't she sweet. My main problem with her is that with the dipping lug I need a crew to sail her and without a cabin I have to stay near the launch ramp when questionable weather comes up. She does have a awning/tent but you must lower the sails to put it up and it is very difficult to do at anchor. Since I do 18th century re-enactments I plan to keep her for those occasions, but will use the catboat for when I want to go out by myself, or can't round up a crew.

Tom: I must've missed you, as I worked the Com-Pac booth for a quite a few hours both Sat & Sun.
Those Sun Cats are neat boats, I think I managed to sell one on Wednesday in Grand Rapids (I'm working towards being broker when I retire).
I bought a Com-Pac 23 in Chicago, and if you buy a boat, they let you hang out! I'll be picking her up in Clearwater myself in about 60 days. Normal shipping charges are $1,900; so, this has "free road trip" written all over it. I'm going to keep her in the water on Lake Michigan, and you're more than welcome to come for a sail.

Here is another catalog view of the Compac Sun Cat. As I said before I won't be taken possession of by her until late April or early May.

This photo is closer in color to the one I bought.

In the last few boat shows I've attended, only one boat really stood out as one I'd really like to own. And you bought it! Congratulations! That's a sweet little vessel. Please give us a report on how she sails when you get her home. Or better yet, seeing as how you'll be driving within three miles of my house and across my home lake, drop her off here and let me work out the bugs for you for a month or two. :D
