Not big sick. She exhibits a variety of symptoms.

You want to know what I really think? I think I'm ready to die, right now, so give me your damndest.

"so give me your damndest" (Ishmael)

Ok, here goes: I think you are a pretty good guy in dire need of a physical project.

Sorry to echo the sentiments of your tormentors, but even broken clocks are right twice a day :D .

The symptoms?

Cats are nasty Jack.
They're always hacking something up.
I still prefer them to most humans.
Hope your kitty gets well.
Peace.

Why is this up here?

Might be a mistake; might be an attempt to avoid sadistic cyber-stalkers.

Kevin,

Symptoms are a dry cough. She looks in the pink, sleek as a mink, but now and again she coughs. It may be my tobacco usage, but that's fairly minor so I don't think so.

When she arrived she was skinny, wasn't getting proper feeding. Even though I give her best-grade-grocery-kibble and scraps I know it's an unnatural diet for cats.

She's, probably, fine, but I have grown a little attached to the booger. Just being an over attendant parent. smile.gif Thought someone here might know a thing or two about cat coughs.

Tormentors?!? Just who is the tormentor and who the tormentee is open to some broad interpretation.

Anyway, I'll try and blow up this inappropriately placed thread with the....

...Kitten Cannon (http://www.addictinggames.com/kittencannon.html)

To be a tormentee, one has to acquiese.

I don't have a dog in the fight. Though occasionally mauled, so funky what?

I asked after kits because I like her, and would like her to be well.

Jack, one of my cats does this and has for the last 4 years. The vet gave me laxitol to put in his food once a day. It seems to work when I remember to give it to him. When he doesn't get it he sounds like he's coughing up a truck. Good luck with the whumpis. Jim....

Might be worth a trip to the Vet.

ishmael
02-17-2006, 07:55 AM
I imagine, in my straight world, that she needs to go to the vet. I have no history of vacination, for example.

I'm not a big fan of vacinations. I've thought about it

Jack...have you ever had any vacinations...? Have you ever known anyone with polio?
My mother had that...as did my brother.
Vacinations are tested and tried....
I'm glad my new puppy...which is going through her vacinations is no where near your cat....
Your averstion to vacinations is just plain DUMB....

added to note afdter reading your post...If you are younger than say 55...you have had vacinations....perhaps not rabies vacinations but a few in your lifetime....
Just look at a raccoon with distemper...you would change your mind real quick.

I can understand avoiding doctors and vets when possible, but neglecting vaccinations goes beyond cruelty and into the realm of social irresponsibility. A sick animal is a danger to the community.

Vaccinate your cat or put it down.

Right now...I am having cat problems....seems that my lawn is one huge litterbox and puppies, for whatever reason, love kitty crap....
I don't know where they come from...the cats....I don't know whether they are wild....
But, I am at least aware that the sh***t is there...and I am vacinating Ceilidh against the usual.
And yes Jack, you call Joe irresponsible pet owner...you have just taken the lead big time....

ps...this includes intestinal worms etc....heart worm, lyme disease...etc..pps...you are not only putting your cat in jeapordy but if you let her out, you are putting other's pets in jeapordy as well...and that is very irresponsible...

I don't know where to start. I never called Joe irresponsible re Lucky. I wished Lucky well, said he was probably a dumb Labrador who ate something untoward.

Billy, I think this cat would have a thing or two to say about putting her down just now. I plan to take her to the vet's. She, probably, doesn't need the attentuated rabies virus they'll give her, but who am I to say? It's the law here in Maine. I don't plan to give her the other vacines, trusting to fate.

Jack...sorry...someone else called him irresponsible...wasn't you...and I won't say who wrote those posts.
Still the rest holds true....
You do have to be responsible for your pets as they can't do what is right...

Phil,

It's a serious question in the field. Vacines have been a good thing, on measure. But there is question about them as possible carriers of cancer.

I do wonder how human and animal immune systems vary. I don't get vacinated regularly for polio, but my animals do for rabies. Is that something genuine, or is it driven by industry? Sell the vet, who then sells you an artificial need.

Ish...as one can take a pet to a free rabies clinic....usually paid for by the county or the state...I don't think it is a money issue...
At the most, the charge might be as high as $5.00 but the vet really can't work for free.
So...no, I don't think it is a conspiracy

Every state requires rabies vaccines. Some let you go 3 years after the first shot, others require a new one every year. The law notwithstanding, rabies is common enough that the vaccine could possibly save your cat's life, in one of two ways; by preventing her from getting rabies, or by preventing euthanasia, for testing, in the event she nips or scratches you or someone else.

It's not an industry scam.

There were 3 rabid raccoons documented in your county last year.

You guys are totally over-reacting.
The cat has a hairball.....ack...ack... :D
They lick their fur all day, think about it. tongue.gif

Jack I got Fatbob at the APL.
He came with all the shots.
It's not expensive.
If you take her to the vet, be sure to get her checked for worms. ;)

A bloody hairball is not my concern.as it is no big deal..it is the lack of medical attention...shots, vaccinations etc. that bother me...An unvaccinated pet is asking for trouble...not only for the individual but any animal that it comes in contact with.....

DutchNope, been walking with him, you obviously don't read very well, since I posted he never goes into the road, natural fences and all. Also garbage pick up is only one day monday morning ( already picked up ) I have also been keeping up on his meds and paid the vet bill, you know what a vet is right? Anyway he is feeling like the old lucky again, a happy healthy vaccinated neutered lab, who cant wait to go sailing with me in the spring smile.gif

Jack how's the cat feeling today? Did dreaming help? I hope so, I dream every night and it seems to help.

Good Heavens Kevin! That is one seriously attitudinal lookin' feline you got there :D

We got one named LT. I call him Leutinant for short. He's not worth a damn, but you gotta give him credit. He keeps going out and getting himself beaten up. Come to think about it, he reminds me of an LT. ;)

I hope your cat is getting better Jack.
