In this week's TV listings there's a made-for-TV movie on Friday evening that takes place aboard a US carrier in the days after 9/11: 'Civilians aboard a 95 ton fleet carrier for a Tiger cruise between Pearl Harbor and San Diego find themselves suddenly in the midst of a security crisis.'
That should be 95 THOUSAND tons, TV folks :D

My son is an F-14 pilot aboard the John C. Stennis and I will be onboard for the Honolulu to San Diego tiger cruise the end of September. Let me know a) what crisis to watch out for; b) who will be playing me in the movie. Steve Faehnle

Did you see the WWII-vintage carrier for sale? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2004/01/10/webay10.xml
Looks like you could still land & take off of it if you wanted to.

A 95 ton aircraft carrier would be one LIGHTWEIGHT boat! Maybe the thought it was built using Platt Monfort's Geodesic Airolite technique... :D
