In my dreams SWMBO comes to me on Christmas morning with an envelope. "Open it", she says. I tear it open to reveal a coupon. A coupon good to build one boat of my choice in her, uh our... I mean MY garage.
Do dreams have to be that, just dreams? Somebody pass this on to her - there are still a few days left!

You send one to my wife, and I'll send one to yours.
Gosh, are we really that simple? ;)

'Tis better to plead for forgiveness, than to ask for permission...
About 12 years ago I was bitten by the woodenboat bug, as I suspect all of you were at some point. My wife went away for a week to visit her parents. I saw her off at the airport. On my drive home from the airport I made several stops: buying plywood, a jigsaw, a block plane, epoxy, etc. By the time my wife came home the following week, I was about 1/2 way through the construction of a 16' kayak in the one-car (uh, one-kayak) garage of the townhouse we were renting. :D

Do I Dare? Mike Field has 'Sanderling' up for sale. I love it, it's just down the road in the same bay and I can get a reasonably secure semi-mud berth for $A80.00 a year.
She's an Eventide I think. Bilge keeler, draws 2'6" or thereabouts, perfect for my location. Anne, when I mentioned it, said "Well, we could just borrow a bit more" (there's a tax bill coming). DO I DARE??

I'm always encouraging of people who want to buy something they can use right away, rather than a "project"
Skuthorp, you can't take it with you, and I'm a great believer in spending or borrowing money on things (the experience) that make you happy.

I agree that one has to carefully consider any capital outlay or time investment on anything that is not a boat.

I got my (er, the boat's) half of the garage by the simple expedient of cleaning out all the cr...junk that had somehow mysteriously accumulated there.
As for my Santa list, a gift cert to Sears for (boatbuilding) tools, a gift cert to our sponsors Wooden Boat for...whatever, and a grey fleece vest also from the WB Store.

I've got my eye on a '52 Ford Golden Jubilee Tractor. (think 8N) Gonna check on it Friday and can hopefully make a deal. Plus, Thursday is my birthday. We can call it a Twofer present.

I have great difficulty entering our garage.
Apart from the five bicycles and SWMBO's gardening stuff, the rest of it is, er, boat gear! ;)

I've got a Finn and a Beetle Cat in my garage. But I could always build a bigger garage smile.gif !!

Well I got both of those calender books by Mendlowitz and there are some wonderful looking boats in there...
No coupon though... :(
Must have been a frustrated boat builder that came up with the saying, "Easier to get forgiveness than permission". ;)
