Hey folks, I ran into a couple wooden boat souls last week and 'lo and behold they have planned a get together coming up October 1 at 10:00. This is a Saturday and we are meeting at the lake at Busse Woods forest preserve. This is in Schaumburg located just east (across the expressway) from Woodfield shopping center. Bring what you like to eat and drink but make the boat a wooden one!

Ah, thanks Drake you have just doubled the WB family in attendance - hopefully. Now, to get the Scheuer Brothers to weigh in. Man, one lives in Hoffman Estates for heaven's sake (next door). Come on Paul, give Moby Nick a call and let's double it to four of us!

It's on the calendar. I need to work on the vertical storage system in my shop/shed/garage. There's a boat or two in there, somewhere. I assume that you'll be at the South Lake launch ramp.

That's the one Paul - the south ramp with the open lake before it. Look for me in my eleven foot blue skiff.

Well the weekend is upon us. If the weather holds it will be a terrific send off of the season. Come one, come all to see the Captain doing his Pre-Capsize drill. :D

Paul:
Thanks a ton - great work.
One thing we all noticed as we were tacking around was that the six boats all had different rigs on them. There was a balanced lug, sprit rig (yours truly), sloop, gaff rig, schooner and cat ketch. And how that cat ketch could MOVE!! He was sailing circles around us out there - a CLC type modified sharpie skiff. That really opened my eyes...
The weather was terrific although another five knots would have made it more interesting. We had folks from Madison, Wisconsin (Bolger schooner), Rockford (a 7'8" sloop with bowsprit - cute and salty at the same time), and the rest from the suburban area.
The decision was made to make this an annual event on the first Saturday of October each year. Most of the boats were Jim Michaelic designs and all were quite different in shape - a lot of variety.
