The latest flyer from West/US boat has a blip about "Marine Lumber". They also call it " Star Board. How cute!!Just another deception and some I suppose buy it thinking it's Marine Lumber because that outfit say's so. Blah.

JD...that stuff has been around for a long long time. Taco, the manufacturer, calls it marine lumber (they even have 'Lumber Lite'), and they write the ad copy for the retailers.

Donn, I keep away from that place like the plague. But here it's just about the only place to get marine paint etc.

Anybody mix their own bottom paint? I tried pepper years ago . It seemed to whet their appetite. ;)

The stuff is expanded polyethelene. I have an Old Town canoe made of it. It's good for lots of applications--I made an instrument panel, for example. Pretty tough to glue, however.

There's a feller in these parts, what drives one of those fiberglass seement tubs, I disremember it's name, but it looks like a Boston Whaler on steroids. Got a huge 4-stroke on it.

He's built it's entire interior with that stuff; CC, livewells, bait tanks, tackle storage, bait prep, etc..

He's a good carpenter, and he did a real nice job on this stuff. The boat's a joy to fish on.

Oh yeah! Carolina Skiff.
