I know her name should never be uttered before the Christening, but I guess as long as I don't say it out loud, it probably won't bring too much bad luck.... (And besides, SWMBO has been pestering me about it getting it on there... ;)

Awesome.

Are the letters bronze or brass? Are they made in a smaller size, between 2" and 3"? I will need 14 letters, should I get a 2nd mortgage on the house? Oh, where did you buy them?

Thanks for sharing!

I'm afraid they're brass. And that was the only size they offered at the time. (3 years ago?) I would have prefered something a bit smaller, (these are three inches, btw...) but they are nice, solid stuff, not the pressed junk you usually see sold for use as house numbers. SWMBO got 'em for me for my birthday at a local "Nautical Emporium" called "Cutty Sark" in Bellevue on the east side of Seattle. (Google, perhaps?) I think they were 8 or 9 bucks a pop.

Believe it or not, I drive sailboats. Started with big schooners, but I've since settled into instruction, charters and deliveries. (In other words, I got married...) This little project is for SWMBO and I to enjoy together WITHOUT clients, passengers or students! ;)

That's another SWMBO "accomodation", John... The base plate for a removable outboard motor mount. (We suffer from frequent light, to no, airs here. I'm NOT putting a head in her! ;) )

WOW! now *thats* an honorable way to make a living :) have you sailed on Adventuress yet? Now that is a beautiful schooner if I have ever seen one. Someday I want to get a sail on her...dream...dream...

The Adventuress is indeed a beautiful craft. I've seen her from the deck of the Zodiac. (My favorite)

That's looking mighty fine Art...and mighty close to launch. WBF? (I know I've asked that question before but I'm certain she'd steal the show!) I can't wait to see her. BTW, That's truly a fitting name!

I just cant believe the way Adventuress' web site is lacking any good pictures of her. I even emailed them about it.

I see you are in GA Old Sailor, do you make it to the PNW often? I have seen Zodiac sailing around from the shore. I have yet to sail around here. I grew up sailing on Lake Michigan. Soon though...all I have to do is build my house, I just got accepted into the UW, so I have 2 years of college to finish, then I have to either build or buy my Dark Harbor 17. Then I too will be sailing again....

Thanks folks... We're getting down to the short strokes now. I'm afraid the Port Townsend show isn't in the cards for this year, Jamie. I've got a class going out that Saturday, the sails will have just been delivered and the only realistic launch date that works with my sailing schedule, and SWMBO's calander as well, looks like maybe September 19th. (And that just happens to be her birthday! ;) ) Seems appropriate... I'll post a "formal" date and invitation to attend for all forum members who might find themselves nearby once I can confirm that.

I rolled her outside again yesterday to step the mast one more time. Got the final measurements for the lower splices in the shrouds and forestay. Also marked the shrouds in way of spreaders for the second layer of service to "lock" 'em into place. I'm "almost" regretting seeing this come to an end... These are the FUN jobs! ;)

(Tim... I do plan to eventually incorporate a rowing/sculling option for everyday use, but an outboard for cruising up the sound to Port Townsend, or across the strait to the islands for a long weekend, just makes sense to me. That's a long beat to windward with a North wind and an even longer row if the wind dies... ;) )
