It took this long to get some of these pictures back- long story, and awhile to get to a scanner, but problems aside here are a few pictures from the summer in my 1st boat, a Diablo.

Beautiful boat. Beautiful scenery. Beautiful mate. No wonder you've got that great SEG on your face. smile.gif

Doing a job like that on a Diablo isn't exactly a "starter" project. Congratulations. Do you keep it there in Birmingham? And what's next on your agenda?

heys guys, thanks for the kind words. That Diablo lives on Dog River for know, a kind friend had an empty lift! I'm up here at UAB in med school, and they're keeping me busy. Luckily a forum member let me have a ton of of WB back issues and I've been perussing(sp?) learning all sort of neat things, like how NOT to make a plywood scarfer. Anyway the currrent project I've posted on here a few times- she's gonna be named the S.S. Arginine. So far I've stipped the paint and removed the Gunwales, and Sprayrails, and have identified the extent of the rot. Right now I'm replacing a few spots in the plywood, and then the center chine, then the whole transom. There were also two frames that were long ago cracked (one repaired with srews the other with a plywood brace) and I'll be replacing them. It's at the stage where new constuction would be easier, but if easy were the goal, we'd all have gel-coated-plastic boats, right? I estimate this boat to be 40-50 years old, and the 1/4 ply is three ply, but VERY solid and consistent (the parts I've cut into). There will be more posts in the repair section I promise- this picture is before the paint removal- I rented that "Silent Paint Remover" I'll write about it when I get the pictures.

Middle Bay--your photo on Dog River is not far from my house. Isn't it a nice river to putter about on? The lift where your boat is pictured--is that on Robinson Bayou? If so, you are very near my house which is on Robinson Bayou....
