A friend, a very very good friend, lent me "Ranging the Maine Coast" by Alfred F. Loomis, W.W.Norton & Co, NY, 1939.
I don't think she's a good enough friend to just give me the book.
Something about her brother needing it this summer . . .
Wonderful.

At the boatbuilders' show I had a chance to listen to the likes of Chris and Steve and Hugh romance on the deep cold waters. As a Nantucket Sound wind snob, I must in fairness quote this from the great Alf:
"Hotsput lay the night in Portland. The next morning she was joined by the man who, twenty years ago, first contrasted for me the delights of sailing in nice rock-filled waters with the horrors of floundering around amid sandspits and bars in such regions as Long Island and Nantucket Sounds . . ."
Could make Grana and me want to sail down and spend some time.
