I've got a "Chimp" brand mounted in my Drascombe Lugger. The boat has a bilge full of rain from the last few days of downpours. When I went to pump it out the pump seems to be sucking mostly air. The intake is clear and submerged, the diaphram seems sound. A couple minutes of pumping didn't change anything. What am I missing?

I'm wondering if an intake valve isn't stuck open.

I have the same brand on my tri, take the front off and have a look at the flapper valve on the inlet side, or the reed? type rubber valve on the exit side. If the exit valve is stuck , it is sucking air back through the exit.

There are a couple of easily missed bolts behind the handle pivots to look out for.
