She's a beaut Dingo. But I tell ya I'm done ! With Dove and Tidbit I have finally quenched my boat lust thirst. I need for no more I'm happy with what I got. I can see myself being happy for a long long time. I don't need lottery I have already won ;)
But I would be glad to accompany you on that beautiful boat should you happen to win ;)

I rarely ever play the lottery. I don't think I've never won anything by chance, but last night on the way home from work, I noticed the Mega Millions jackpot was an estimated $102 Million. On an impulse, I bought four Quick Pick tickets - one for each family member. So I had 24 numbers.
I got one number right in 24.
I should have put my $4 in the kid's college fund, either that or stop letting the computer pick my numbers. tongue.gif

Not playing guarantees not winning. ;)

true I guess... but you gotta be in it to win it eh?
With this mob and life in general its gonna take me awhile to gather that much to me that I can spare to throw at a boat but Im tryin like billio to do so and to put things to rights around here as well...
But a boat like those two?... aaahhhh as the ol Beach Boys would say "Wouldnt it be nice?"
Those two up for sale in Kiwiland John? Ive had a look around NZs boatpoint saw some fine looking boats but nothing spectacular hit me like Eun na mara does... bautiful eh?
sigh where the blazes is that sugar momma???

Which one, Shane? Or is it both?
I play the lottery every dad gum week and have for probably twenty years. The most we've ever won is about six dollars, but like they say, someone wins it, and their odds were no better than mine.
The thought of winning the lottery is kind of scary when you are already a boat addict. I would have a teak deck put on the Dragon. Have the schooner professionally refinished. Buy a competitive Star and maybe another Finn. Having done all of that I will have spent less than 60K. Now for the big money, I would go looking for that 6 or 8mR that I have always wanted. Probably the 6mR. Logistically it just makes more sense.
'Caprice' is for sale for around 60,000 pounds and she is a winner. 'Ali Baba' and 'Toy' also come to mind. If you are going to sail racing boats it's best to sail one you can win with, and all three of those are winners. Of course I'd have to join a club in either the northwest or the northeast and keep the boat up there.
Oh, it is so fun to dream of what could be. And Shane, were I to all of a sudden hit those elusive six numbers, I might just be able to front you $190,000AUS. We dreamers need to stick together, eh?

It is fun to dream of the "next boat" or the alternative life. But these lotteries are not simply a tax on the stupid. They are a tax on the poor, who are most likely to spend their money to maintain hope. I am not particularly political, but I do think that these lotteries are a way to keep the poor from demanding social change.

Strine mate, strine.
If I had the energy after removing 3 dinghys, 2 boatlengths of chain, 1 CQR, 1 lead anchor sentinel, an outboard and the fuel, the sail I've just discovered needs repair and 2 squabs off the boat ..... I'd do a search for ya.
I think I need to win lotto so I can get a marina berth for the old croucher.Something wrong in the world when a place to keep it costs more than the boat itself

Paul; I appreciate your sincerity in this issue, and to be honest I quite agree, but this is a 'dream boat' thread. For those of us whose dreams are bigger than their bank accounts it is a relatively harmless way to pass the time.

Shane, Fife did design smaller boats, look at the boats on this page (http://www.royalangleseyyc.org.uk/) . They have no utility though. You;d have to set up your own racing fleet.

I'm doing a lightning trip to Auckland this week (in and out in about 20 hours) - do you reckon JohnB would notice if I brought his boat back for you as carry-on luggage?

Received and responded.
One day I'll figure out why I do trips to places I like during the middle of the week rather than say Friday......

This Friday is the start of our 3 day classic regatta. :D
Thursday, some of the boats will be moving into the Viaduct Basin ( Downtown)... they'll mostly be over in front of the old Alinghi base( the pink building at the opposite end from the old AC big boat on the hard. The western side. Either way it'll be worth a look around the basin Ian.

Shall plan to. The silly thing about this trip is that my meeting in Auckland may last as little as 10 minutes - or go for four hours. Makes it hard to organise anything else eh?

Well, in case you pick up the magic clover, Fyfes are being built again by Stagnol boatyards in Bénodet:
Seagull, renamed Seabird, plan #215 of 1889, 8 meters for 115,000€.
Fyne, plan #216, 13 meters for 465,000€.
Seven Seas, 9 meters for 460,000€.
Boatyard (http://www.industrie-nautique29.com/)
Eight Seabirds have been built so far.
G'luck!

Oh, come on! Will somebody buy that Rowdy?!?!
It makes me wanna spend all my hard-earned money on lottery tickets everytime I see that ad still in my WB's 'Boats for sale'-section... :(
She's going down faster than NYSE-listings, but $725K (US) is still a truckload of cash...

And she's such a lovely boat!

The maintenance bills on 'Rowdy' have got to be terrifying. I am almost sure that that is the only reason that it hasn't sold. It'll eventually go to the Med, where all great boats like that seem to wind up. Some very wealthy Italian or Swiss businessman will wind up using it as a trophy so that his trophy wife will have someplace to get one of those four-alarm tans.
Dang, where did that cynicism come from? It is such a lovely boat, though.

Dang, where did that cynicism come from?I imagine he wanted a break between two winning legs aboard Alinghi?
