Well I've been a part of this cyber family for a while now and darn if I can come up with the meaning. Clearly it refers to one's spouse but...

She Who Must Be Obeyed
She who must be obedient. :D

Originated, I believe (that means I think I remember!) by Bob Cleek, citing John Mortimer's Rumpole of the Bailey, citing in turn Rider Haggard's "She".

Thanks guys, seems like I don't get out much. smile.gif I was relieved at the meaning. Was fearful it was something like She Who Might Be Obliterated. :D
Originated, I believe (that means I think I remember!) by Bob Cleek First use on this forum, perhaps, but it's been in the ether since the days when bulletin boards ran at incredibly slow speeds. I don't know how old Rumpole's use is, but I wouldn't be surprised if the acronym was on the wire before Rumpole was on the telly.

Guys (esp Donn) I think that's She Who Married Boat Owner
I think the best one though is whoever refers to his partner as something along the lines of She Who is My Friend and Lover :D Is it Dave Fleming?
My Dave just refers to me as the insane redhead who won't leave him alone - there just isn't an abbreviation for that one ;)
Yep...SWIMPAL...That's Penny, Fleming's Finest. It has more than one meaning, IIRC. ;)

She
Who
Is
My
Partner
And
Lover..
And yes O&O East it does have other significant meanings,if that can be said, than what is stated above.

So how's that She who must be obedient thing workin out for ya, Donn? ;) Charles would probably like that, but I'm incorrigible :D Sort of along Margo's lines. I'm the sometimes blond woman who makes him nuts. He's a good man smile.gif

Someone used to use SWMTMH:
She
Who
Mostly
Tolerates
My
Hobbies
Me, I just obey, say "Yes, Dear" and hide guitars in the house where she can't find them.
It's definately SWMBO for me. :D (til I get caught!)

Before Rumpole, used by James Thurber.
If you haven't read his The War Between Men and Women(in the Thurber Carnival), then you're REALLY missing something...
