Supreme Court lets ruling stand in National Geographic CD-ROM case

The Supreme Court will not hear the case against National Geographic regarding rights to distribute collective works on CD-ROM.

If you recall, our host pulled their CD-ROM collection of back-issues off the market around the time this case was initiated. It will be interesting to see if WoodenBoat will again offer their collection electronically.

I for one still regret not buying it when it first came out.

Interesting implications for lots of publishers.

I know I am being a bit smug but I purchased a legit copy locally a couple of years ago. Haven't used it much but it is oustanding as a reference, and now historical, tool.

Hope they bring it back for all to share (at a price!).

Yes, let's hope our hosts will make the CD-ROM available again. I had just decided to go ahead and purchase it and then found that it had been pulled off the market that very week.
