I fell in love with this boat a number of years
ago while on vacation at Lake Superior. She was
the first large sailboat that I had the honor
of taking the helm,It was a perfect sail amongst
the Apostle Islands ,on a perfect day.I try to get up there every year to visit her.I know she's
probably not the finest boat ever but she'e real special to me. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-8/321693/zeetosun400.jpg
One of these day we will smell Spring coming, and then the ice will be out of the lake and you can think about doing it again!

Its the time of year you really start to ache for
it...sigh...
I know, and it's still February. Wintry here today, but tomorrow it may get above freezing -- and there are more of those to come.

It is a fine looking vessel, but how about a name etc.

ZEETO - This vessel was built to a Howard Chappell design of an 1870 Atlantic fishing schooner. Her overall length of 54' (LOA), beam (width) of 14'6" and a displacement of 35 tons makes her powerful, majestic and comfortable.

Not necessarily my favourite boats as such, but two of my favourite boat pictures -- the first a photo of a femboring going hell-for-leather, and the second a painting of Pequod by the Forum's resident artist --

Leon, the first one's actually a magazine photo. I've posted it here before, and I wish I had a higher-res version of it.
Yes the painting is one of JD's -- great, isn't it? If you look carefully you can see Moby Nick spouting on the horizon dead ahead.

Mike...You beat me to it! :D I had just tracked down the URL for that picture of Salarøy and I was going to put it up here with a comment much like yours. Oh well, at least I know that others share my love of that image. It's one of my all time favorites. I've thought of trying to write to the photographer to see what it would cost to buy a print but I've never gotten around to it. The image is from this website: http://hildringstimen.no/ and you can also find more there about Salarøy (if you can read Norwegian). I can't find anything that says who took that picture but Salarøy was built by Gunnar Eldjarn and his email address appears to be gunnare@imv.uit.no and I bet he would know who took the picture. I believe Gunnar's email is through the University in Tromsø so I'd be real surprised if he did not have at least a passing knowledge of English since almost every well educated Norwegian seems to speak it quite well.

Salarøy. Yes, that's right, I'd forgotten her name. Isn't she a beauty, Bruce? I found the earlier thread where she was mentioned, here. (http://media5.hypernet.com/cgi-bin/UBB/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=5&t=002183&p=). But all the photos posted on that thread were unfortunately lost in the PhotoPoint melt-down.
There's a page of thumbnail photos of similar vessels here. (http://hildringstimen.no/) (I guess this is the page you mention.) Click the first item in the menu at the left. Salarøy appears nearly half-way down.
