Don't know if anyone is interested, but here's a fairly nice 1958 Chetek Viking Vollrath Northwoods 16' Wooden Boat for sale on eBay.

According to my research, Chetek Boat Corp. of Chetek, WI did not make molded veneer boats. In 1958 they were pretty much making plywood lapstrake outboards and maybe still some cedar strip boats.

The boat on ebay looks like one built by North American Marine of Warsaw, IN.

I wonder what it really is??? Other builders of molded veneer boats in 1958 were Carver; Dunphy; MiloCraft; plus many others...

Yes, it is interesting, but at least they posted a link to your reasearch on BSLOL. I noticed that it didn't reach reserve, so I'm sure it'll be back on.

That boat looked like it was cedar strip construction to me.

Not cedar stip - there are no ribs. It's either molded veener or plywood sheet construction. Take a close look at the picture with the engine controls.

Forgot to add to my earlier post that "Viking Volrath" is the steering wheel. Volrath made steering wheels for power boats and Viking was most likely their model name for that particular style wheel. It had nothing to do with the boat.

I still maintain that it is NOT a boat made by Chetek Boat Corp. of Chetek, WI.
