A fortnight ago the bay was like a sheet of mauve glass. Not a breath, almost oily as you only get in winter. Just enough sun to produce a hint of mist on the surface of cold water. I rowed for 4 miles or so, sometimes stopping just to look at a change on the horizon to the west.
Last weekend xc skiing less than 60 miles from the bay. Minus 5 (not too cold) superb snow, enough sun to be comfortable. A campfire and a warm tent, skied into a resort for breakfast, lairised a lot doing telemarks with my cousin and his wife on the runs for an hour or so then 5 miles or so mosly flat or downhill to the car and home before 7 for a malt or two. Not a bad place I live in I think.

minus 5... Not a bad place I live in I think.
ARE YOU TOTALLY MAD JEFF OR WHAT???
Sorry mates but I had to shout then I think Jeffs earholes froze up with the rest of him for a minute there... minus 5??? strewth!!
Lucky for me the winter this year has been delishious... I think all up weve had about a week of wet shitey weather the rest has been glorious sun shining low to mid 20s during the day and down around 14 or so at night... just cold enough to keep us housebound but during the day... oh the days are glorious here
Wonder what summers goin to bring... actually given the way winters been its startin to worry me I think a high 30s early 40s peoplecook is coming this year  but then again she will be warm as toast ;)
Why, yes, Dingo; minus five is rather pleasant for winter temps. Compared to our usual mid-winter of -15 or -20, that would be a dandy temperature. Of course, if you want to get fearsomely frosty, go for a visit with Braam in February. As a matter of fact, the only thing I see wrong with Skulthorp's weather report is that it is a half-year out-of-whack. :D
(A cool high-pressure system passed over us today, bringing a wonderful day of clear skies, light breezes, low humidity, and a daytime high of about 24C. Right now it is just mast midnight, the stars are so sharp that they glint, and it is 16C. Blue jeans, a tee-shirt, sandals, & an open denim jacket and I'm set to take the new mutt for her midnight stroll. smile.gif )

Well, fellas. It's 2am here, about 29C, and it's pouring down rain. To be honest with you, I could use a little winter weather right now. We had a humidity drop over the weekend, but the temperatures still made 32-35C every day. Tired of it. Ready to be cool. I still can't believe that I played football in this stuff once upon a time. The older I get, the worse summer gets.
Come on, fall. The best time for sailing around here.
