Nasty strong blow here in Seattle, 60 plus knots up here on the hill, white caps and rolling chop in the lake. In the Sound, seas were breaking over the breakwater at Elliott Bay Marina. I believe that's something over 15 feet high at mean high tide. I wish I'd taken some photos, but I ran down to my moorage to check, Good thing too, I found the boathouse had broken off the rings attached to the windward side's dolphins and was near beating itself to death on the lee side. Eight hours later and I have everything bolted back together again, but I'm betting there will be some damage from this blow. How's everybody doing?

Came through fine Dave. Three hundred fasteners, a dozen big lag bolts, thirty feet of 3/4 inch manila, and about 75 feet of 2x4 and 4x4 to shore her up, along with a honking big galvinized cleat I got at Fisheries went into the boathouse to shore her up, but apart from damage to the siding, its probably stronger than before.
Winds were clocked at 63 MPH on Alki Point, 66 MPH on Magnolia Bluff. I don't know what they were on Lake Union, but one of the hardest parts was pulling the house off the lee dolphin and lashing it back onto the windward side. The house is 65 feet long and about twenty feet high to the eve of the roof. It gave me, a stinkpotter, new respect for the power of sail, and the meaning of windage! The Coasties found 18 boats drifting free in Puget Sound, along with numerous docks, I'm told.
Rita herself never took a scratch.
