TV ad:

The Scene: Quiet lake, young man rowing a young woman in a boat.

Problem: Boat suddenly develops a leak in the bottom. Water shoots up about three inches and causes sinking feeling.

Solution: Young woman reaches into purse, removes a tampon, removes tampon from outer case and inserts it into leak. Tampon swells up to stop the leak and save the evening.

Result: I begin to wonder.....Is it just me........?

Bizarre.
Is this a real commercial? On network TV?

Didn't we recently have a thread from several on the forum who claimed to have seen this?

I've been telling the tale as gospel but have not seen the ad locally.

It's really too wonderful not to be true.

It's a real ad...must've been on a cable station, because I saw it during a 10-hour Honeymooners marathon.

Well, I was quite surprised that no one had seen this ad nor commented on it before I did. Now I see that I had missed it on the Forum. There are just too many people on here for it to go by not noticed.

I guess there is some humor to be found in this ad, but it certainly not easy for me to find.

Kevin

Can't remember the show or channel on which I saw the ad, I think I was too far taken aback by the "shock" effect.

Can't say I know much about this new technology ;) , but when I was a kid I was always dragging home derelict boats & on more than one occasion used pine cones to plug up holes for the trip home. (Used to work pretty well for filling what appeared to be 12ga. shot gun holes) :D

Sounds like a brilliant commercial, though I haven’t seen it.

Do you remember what brand of tampons that was? I’d like to get a box to stow on board just in case of emergency.

Scott, wine corks from any good wine will work just as well, if not better, and then you'll have the wine as an added benefit... :D

Used wine corks have holes in 'em, unless they're champagne corks. :D

... yea, but the wine corks don't have the easy-string-removal system ...

I was going to start a post on that one myself.

The next quetion:
"Did she get a second date?"

She should. A gal who doesn't stand on ceremony and produces a solution to a problem gets my vote errr date. Asking at least ;)
