Hello all.
I am on a quest. In 1931, my grandfather commissioned a boat to be built in New Jersey by a Thornwald B. Jenson. It was 30 ft by 9 ft. 7. I have a sketch of the boat and know it's name (in 1931). I am trying to figure out if there is anyway to find this old wooden boat, if she is still afloat. If anyone could help me with any ideas as to how to do about doing this, I would appreciate it!

Did he pass on any of the original documentation for the boat ... ? I.e. any serial numbers, license numbers, or other?

If you had something like that, you could start with state departments of motor vehicles ...

I've been through this. smile.gif Look in the yacht registers and other info available at marine museum libraries, like Mystic Mystic (http://www.mysticseaport.org/library/about/directions.cfm)
The next place to look is the Coast Guard documentation center in Falling Waters WV. Then look is to National Archive and Record Administration NARA (http://www.archives.gov/research_room/arc/index.html) which should have the same Coast Guard info. The New Jersey info might be in New York. Also check at the Historical
Societies and yacht clubs at wherever the boat was used.
Have fun. smile.gif

I wish I had something like this. We have no documentation, no numbers, nothing. Thanks.

Is the name of the boat a secret? smile.gif Someone here might recognize it.

StevenHi Steve, No! It sure isn't! Back in 1931 she was called "The Redhead"
Wouldn't that be great if it jogged a memory?
Thanks.
