I'm not ready to shell out the big bucks for a full up electronic navigation suite. However, I've been looking at the Yeoman Plotter (http://www.yeomanuk.co.uk/home/index2.htm).
Does anyone have experience with one of these? Are they worth the money ($600.00)?
I've used one, I didn't really like it. It only takes one step out of the process, and it's the step that you really need to orient yourself.
Whilst admitting that I'm a luddite (although I seem to have forgotten how to take "proper" celestial sights). I like the chart plotters that are out there.
I'd say the Yeoman does not even make it half assed status.

I really like the Yeoman. Used it on a trip from Toronto - Bahamas and it worked really well. I liked being able to use papercharts and had it interfaced to the GPS for waypoints, bearings, fixes, etc.
Don't use it anymore, have Nobeltec on a laptop. I've still got my Yeoman if you're interested in a used one. email me at adenduyf@shaw.ca Good luck with your search.
