View Full Version : PSS Shaftseal---dripless(?)
Anyone recommend replacing their old stern gland with one of these?
The current one (grease packed with screw greaser) gives no trouble
except for spewing grease around. Sounds a tidy option.

yup...works fine....but I do hope you have an auqamet 22 or so shaft. The carbon ring willcause dissimilar metal corrosion around the collar area of a lesser metal shaft....used in conjunction with soft mounts and a scatra coupling it makes for an extremely clean, noiseless operation.

The traditional packing will toss a bit of grease, drip a bit of water and need occasional tightening.
The seals without packing work good without the MINOR problems of packing, BUT when they fail and they occasionally do you had better have a BIG bilge pump, instead of a minor leak it will be a big leak.
