I uncoverd the MacKenzie and started to take apart the windshield frame(whats left of it) and I'm worried that I won't have enough pieces to make new one. This is not the way I wanted to start the restore. Any idea's on what I should do ?? The biggest worry is getting the angles on the main piece that the two halves are jioned together. On a lighter note closer inspection it doesn't need as much work I first thought. It's still going to be a long time before she hits the water

Don't get worried, just take one small bite at a time. Is this the boat from the wooden boat rescue fdn? Free boats aren't really free, they're a challenge. I like the challenge of taking something others think is trash and turning it into a showpiece. Just keep focused on a small piece at a time.
Good Luck, Don

Swedish, Stop thinking of this as a boat, and think of it as straight geometry. Essentially, a split windshield is a triangle. Take a straightedge, and put it across the windshield to the outer edges behind the two sides of the windshield assembly. Your triangle is complete. Measure each side, including the straightedge length...Angle one. then measure from the center of the windshield down to the straight edge for a final reference. Then finally take a compass, and measure the degree of inclination of the windshield frame. The combination angle is a measure of the two, the one at the centre, and the rake of the frame, just like crown moulding.

Don, yes it is. I took on this project because I didn't want to see a piece of history cut up. Only 60 MacKenzie's(I think) in the club of "boat owners" I'm going to join. I too love a challenge and have nay sayers in the family. I can't wait to prove them wrong.
PMJ, thanks for the help and I can do crown molding so mabye it's not as grimm as I thought
