Yeah, the bad part is, there's no driving allowed in Beaufort. Cops will be stationed at the bridge and unless you're a local and have a pass, you've got to take a shuttle bus from Wal-Mart. AND, they have made absolutely NO parking arrangements in Morehead. What's worse? It's going on over the weekend of July4th which is a HUGE weekend in Morehead/Beaufort anyway. I'm sure that the tall ships event is going to be nice, but the folks who are attempting to organize the thing must have been out sick on the day the Lord handed out common sense...

This thing is going to be HUGE! Remember seeing "Master and Commander?" The boat that they used for the 'Surprise' is going to be there, she's the 'Rose.' There are going to be MANY boats like that there; they are actually going to be docking at the NC State Port in Morehead because they draw so much water that they can't dock in Beaufort. They are also having a boat race off Atlantic Beach, unfortunately not with the big lumbering 3-masters, but many of the smaller boats will be in it. Go to http://www.pepsiamericassail.com/ and find out what it's all about and see what vessels will be there.

Your getting confused with the Tallships event in July (see other topic). These events are in May and are much smaller (and perhaps more fun).

Oops... Sorry, I didn't know about the event in May... Hmmm, I'm going to be down there that weenend building a deer stand (can't ALWAYS build boats) I think I'll go check that one out. There will DEFINENTLY be less people...

Mike:
The wood boat show is a very good size, about 30-50 or more boats on display, small enough to see everything and talk to anyone. The Museam and boatshop are at the center of things. You'll see a wide variety of beautiful wood boats, production and custom, old and new, kayaks to cruisers. Everything is on the waterfront or within a 1/2 block.
It's well worth the drive and free to spectators.
