I can recall 5 members off-hand but wondering how many more are out there "lurking about." Been thinking about a messabout and elbow-bending session sometime this spring.

I don't know of any other here in Tampa other than myself. I know many boater's though and I am thinking their elbows are stuck that way.

Let's see, IIRC, there's:
Pernicious Atavist in Dunedin,
DavesFlatsBoat in Brooksville,
Ronald Rosen in Winterhaven,
and Jack Grebe in Tarpon Springs.

I know that Brooksville and WH are a little of a stretch.

Are you saying we boaters have a penchant for the finer in adult beverages? I must agree, however, I quit drinking and boating a long time ago; even before it became illegal. Much fun to be had on the water sober, and then enjoy a few cold ones on terra firma. :D

I love a man with such optimism: "........they haven't finished I4 yet." Ross, I-4 will never be finished! Not to hijack my own thread, but how come they can build a 100 mile long highway to nowhere in one year up north where there is, maybe, 7 months of building weather, and we can't resurface 5 miles of blacktop in 2 years with 12 months of building weather?

Jeff (& other central Floridians)

The West Florida Trailer Sailing Squadron will have it's annual Cedar Key Messabout this weekend.

http://ftp.ij.net/wctss/wctss/dates.htm

There will be as many as 60 boats there, including quite a few homebuild wooden boats. We had a wooden Egret show up a couple of years ago. We have had participants from all over the country. Almost all the boatswill be less than 25' - there is not much water off Cedar Key. I will be there with my outrigger F%^&#$% canoe (a trimanoueran according to a friend's daughter). Expect to see Robb White, Hugh Horton and maybe even Mead Gougeon. They will not be there as celebrities they just show up to go sailing (or motoring in Rescue Minor in the case of Robb White). You pretty much need to be in a boat as the only landside activity is the Saturday night cookout. If you want more info e-mail before about 10:00 am tomorrow because that is when I will be leaving for the messabout. Hope you can make it.

I-4....like it wasn't dangerous enough before. Now take the exits and put them on the opposite side, add some cell phones and a 24 hr rush and what do you have?
You have me taking backroads anytime after 9pm.Can't take them earlier than that because everyone has them figured out now.It takes me sometimes 1hr 15 mins to go 17 miles to Gibsonton.By the time it is completed,it will be obsolete to the growth here in Hillsborough county.
I am soon to be switching to 4/10 hr days as soon as the boat is done.
