The Lincoln Memorial .. a ?

Many years ago I was enraptured by a park ranger relating about this representation of the seated Lincoln. The left hand clenched, while the right has fingers extended. The posture , seated with lowered head all have meaning. I forgot all of it but would like a source to refresh my memory. Does any one here know where to fine such info ??
