Pretty burdensome boat. I wonder if they have a lifejacket for every person aboard?

I particularly like the people sitting on the gunwale between the rowing stations!

I hope John Law left the alone. He otter.
Martin, great boat! The "old" Woodenboat (before they fell in love with epoxy and plywood) used to have articles about boats like the one in your photo. Details, please. What design are we looking at?

That is the "jollyboat" of the workboat PRÄSIDENT FREIHERR VON MALTZAHN (President Baron von Maltzhan) which is old traditional fishing cutter that used to fish around Heligoland with Hamburg as homeport.
I started this thread because "otter" who works as bosun on that bost complained because I didn't post any pictures of the "MALTZAHN" in my RumRegatta thread. This pic of her "jollyboat" is the only reference to the "MALTZAHN" (as far as pictures) I could find.

Why should they get busted? They're in a harbor in flat water, no wind, and plenty of freeboard.

Ohh, I probably shouldn't post this...

I'm sorry; I shouldn't have drawn attention away from the boat. My grandfather spent seventy-five years or so in, on, and around boats and probably never had a lifejacket on even once. Couldn't swim, either. Those wacky Lunenburg fishermen! <wink>
Nice boats, Martin.

Looks to me like they're racing and thus wouldn't legally require the PFDs.
