This design calls for strip planked/cold moulded. I was wondering if she can be built Carvel on bent frames?

Cheers

Welcome to the forum! Are you talking about Paul Gartside's design? Why not as him?:)

Yup, #110 is Spartan. Cutest little critter you ever saw. I look at the plans often. Like when I need to get my head back on straight.

Paul said she could be built in the glued lap clinker style. He wasn't in favor of that method.

Construction is a frameless laminate of strip planking and cold molded veneer laid up over temporary molds. You would have to totally redsign the hull. Or pay Paul to redesign the hull. Then she would be way heavier and not as trailer friendly as she is now.

I bet Billy & John Atkin have a plank on frame design in that general size range.

Don't take my word for it. Ask Paul.

What a sweat little sloop Spartan is. I guess cold mold is the only way for this one. Sure am tempted to build one. A cutter is definetly on my to do list however.

Are there any photos of a finished Spartan?

Thanks

One of my favorite all time designs.
I would love to see some images of a finished (sailing) Spartan. Haven't so far.
