Ron,
I have a set of those plans. When I received them it came with an article about the boat and had 1954 hand written at the top of the first page. Hope this might help.

1954, that was a good year....thanks....

Where and when did you get your plans?
I have the small set along with a very good article from d.n.goodchild for the outrageous price of $7, also have weston farmer's book - my old boatshop and it also has the lines and offsets.
So I don't need anyhting more to build from, but never did see a date...

Wonder if any one has a piute or seen one and taken a ride on one???

If the creek doesn't rise, I plan on building one this fall and winter, changing the batten seamed planking to strip planking, and putting a 50 or 60 horse 4 stroke on the transom, by way of a 10 inch backset jackplate. And probably a center console.....

My understanding is that in the case of Paiute Weston Farmer just redrew Wm. Hand's design. I think that's what he said in the article in From My Old Boatshop. Great design either way. D.N. Goodchild also sells a reprint of the article containing the plans

Ron, I was looking at the Piute chapter tonight and remembered you writing you were going to put an outboard on a bracket off the transom. The plan shows a 640 lb motor right in the middle of the boat. How are you going to get your center of gravity as far forward as the designer intended?

Well, I am going to put the fuel tank forward, under the bow deck, and probably use a little concrete bricks for ballast if needed.
Remember that 60 horse only weighs 250 lbs. no monster hanging off the transom.....but it will have to be rebalanced.....

Good luck. That's going to take some work to get the CG right.
