Laura Ellen, a 1937 Bluenose Jr., hit the road today. The boat was transported to Done-Rite Restorations located at Ecarte Marina, near Wallaceberg, ON, to begin the job of refastening, replanking, recalking, etc. The work will be done as a cooperative effort between Done-Rite Restorations and myself.

The boat is hanging on the travel lift, with the keel in the water, in order to swell up the deadwood.

Iron fastenings ????????

What, You don't like the rust stains on the hull? Most of the fasteners are now just dust. All iron fasteners will be removed and replaced with silicon bronze. I plan on taking about 4 weeks of vacation and begin the refastening. About 45 planks being replaced due to iron sickness. Ribs seem to be in relatively good shape.

She looks like she'll be a real beauty when you bring her back. Keep us posted on your progress.

Restoring an old boat is nuts, but a very good kind of nuts!

Cheers,
Garth
